My name is Crissy Randall and I’m the owner and founder of Empowering Individuals Consulting, LLC. I have worked with individuals on the autism spectrum, individuals with disabilities and their families for the past 18 years. I started working as an educational assistant and went on to earn my BS in Elementary and Special Education followed by my MA in Special Education. I began my career working in a consulting role in public schools and started working as a full time behavior and educational consultant in 2016.
I am also the mother of two sweet girls, one of whom is on the autism spectrum. I have been on the professional side of things for close to two decades, and now over the past couple years, I also am sitting on the opposite side of the table as a parent of child on the autism spectrum.
I am passionate about including all individuals — including those on the autism spectrum and those with other developmental disabilities — in our schools and communities. I am very interested in the sensory system and how that plays a role in empowering individuals to live their best lives.I believe that what the neurotypical world may deem as a challenging behavior, is actually a stress response and must be seen as such to truly support an individual and empower them to live the life they want to live.
I view autism and developmental disabilities as opportunities for communities and people to learn from, not fix. We need to meet everyone where they are and find ways to make our world work for everyone, not force them to conform to our neurotypical world.
Over the years as a professional and now as a parent of an autistic child, I know and understand the importance of working with a team of individuals who collaborate with you not to fix the problem, but to empower you by helping you develop the skills you need to live your best life. This is true for autistic individuals, individuals with disabilities and their family members.
